Staff Spotlight Jacki Mallmann

Jacki Mallmann

Jacki Mallmann began her career at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1998 as a part-time administrative assistant in the Department of Psychiatry. She spent fourteen years working at the Midwest Alcoholism Research Center, where she gained invaluable administrative research experience by working on multiple NIH-funded studies, IRB submissions, data entry, general office management, and her favorite, grant submissions. In 2012, she transferred to the Department of Neurology, working for Randall Bateman, MD, and the Knight Family Dominantly Inherited Trials Unit (DIAN-TU), where she has utilized her project management and administrative skills. She is currently the research administrator for both pre and post-award activities.

Mallmann and her husband, Bob, have been happily married for 39 years and have raised three wonderful children: Josh (married to Ashley), Bobby (married to Ashley), and Sarah. They have one grandchild, Gage, who is 13 years old and of whom they could not be prouder. Gage keeps them very busy with many extracurricular activities. Their family is passionate about dogs, as they have two dogs themselves, and between their three children, they have seven “grand-dogs.” They live at Lake of the Ozarks, where they enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, and floating. When their children visit, they all, including the dogs, hang out on the boat dock or go for rides in their pontoon boat, making for quite the spectacle.

Being a part of the Knight Family DIAN-TU and the groundbreaking Alzheimer’s disease research, a cause that is close to her heart, has been the most rewarding experience of her career. It is an honor for her to work alongside such a strong, dedicated team.
