Welcome to the Department of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine. Our mission is to provide world-class clinical care for our patients, perform cutting-edge basic and translational research related to neurological disorders, and train the next generation of leaders in neurology and the neurosciences. We are a community of neurologists, neuroscientists, trainees, and staff, who are committed to carrying out this critical tripartite mission.

These are exciting and unparalleled times for neurology. Treatments for neurological disorders, once believed to be incurable, are being developed and implemented. Early brain injury caused by stroke can now be interrupted, and neurological deficits reversed. Dementia caused by Alzheimer disease is on the verge of being halted by new therapies. The relentless progression of multiple sclerosis can now be significantly curtailed. These are only a few of the exciting developments in neurology.

Please explore our website and get to know our department — its world-renowned faculty of neurologists and neuroscientists, alongside the innovative research that they are performing; the most state-of-the art clinical care delivered by our compassionate physicians; and the unparalleled training opportunities in every subspecialty of neurology.
