Staff Spotlight Alyssa Hiserote

Alyssa Hiserote

Alyssa Hiserote earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and later completed her Master of Science in Nursing at UIC as well. After five years of bedside nursing with a focus in pediatrics, she chose to pursue her passion for research and accepted a Research Nurse Coordinator position at Washington University in the Stroke Patient Access Core.

Throughout her time at Washington University, Hiserote has contributed to a wide range of studies, including both industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated trials. Her work has spanned stroke and neurology-focused research, including studies such as CAPTIVA, HERO, cAPPricorn, FOCAS, I-ACQUIRE, and many others. She is deeply committed to advancing research, particularly through advocacy for diverse populations, prioritizing patient education, and emphasizing primary prevention. Hiserote loves being part of a team that works to close gaps in care and improve outcomes for patients who are often underrepresented in research. Building meaningful, trusting relationships with patients is central to her practice, and she strives to present research as a positive, accessible option for patients and the broader community.

Outside of work, Hiserote and her husband, Tyler, enjoy running, traveling, hiking, watching sports, and exploring new coffee shops and restaurants. She is also an avid reader and enjoys winding down with a good book whenever she can. At home, their two dogs, Winnie and Nellie, keep life lively and full of joy — they are always ready for an adventure and bring immense happiness and energy to their daily routine.
