Nicole Elmore earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and later completed a Master of Science, Adult Nurse Practitioner degree at Saint Louis University. With an extensive background of 18 years in cardiology, she joined the Knight Alzheimer Disease Research Center (Knight ADRC) in 2017 as the initial nurse practitioner. In 2022, Nicole advanced to a leadership role, becoming the Associate Director of the Memory and Aging Project. She continues to serve in this leadership role while also continuing to conduct research clinical assessments for the Knight ADRC.
She is deeply passionate about the work being done at the Knight ADRC to find a cure and hopefully even a prevention for Alzheimer disease (AD), a cruel and terrible disease that affects millions of people and strips them of their identities. The advancements in the field of AD over just the past few years have been the most exciting yet with the approval of disease modifying therapies and blood tests to diagnose. Just image what the next few years can bring!

Outside of work, Nicole and her family enjoy spending peaceful weekends at their cabin on Lake Barkley where they love boating, jet skiing, hiking with their dogs, golfing and building campfires by the water. She and her husband (Brian) are adjusting to life as empty nesters as they had an extremely busy fall with their youngest daughter (Ava) starting her freshman year of college at Indiana University, daughter (Alex) having her wedding on the side of Mount Baker in Washington state and their son (Carter) graduating from Air Force basic training.
