The Department of Neurology congratulates three staff members for being awarded the Neurology Staff Employees of the Quarter for Q4 FY24. The department is now accepting nominations for three award categories in an effort to highlight the dedication and accomplishments of our staff members — clinical, research and administration.

Sara Graves

Clinical Nurse Coordinator II
Pediatric Epilepsy

Sara plays a key role in the PEATC clinic. She is the key to leading family’s through a complicated epilepsy surgery evaluation and is repeatedly praised by families for her dedication, communication and empathy. She is also known to the docs for going above and beyond in making the process seamless to them as well. Docs both at WUSM and at OSH. She deserves All praise for her exemplary work!

Angela Birke

Angie consistently goes above and beyond in her position. Despite having an incredible workload, she always finds time to help others. Angie is an extremely diligent worker who can accomplish anything she sets her mind to. Her extensive knowledge of clinical research, administration, and the overall workings of WashU makes her a fantastic resource for anyone fortunate enough to work with her.  Angie is  also an exceptional manager. She can handle any situation or personality and encourages personal and professional growth in her employees. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award!

Lori Nichols

Senior Residency Coordinator
Pediatric Neurology Division

Lori has worked as the residency coordinator for pediatric neurology residency program over 15 years. She is extremely dependable, reliable and resourceful. Lori has superb knowledge in anything and everything related to residency, GME and ACGME and she is the go-to-person for all of us who have questions. She is one of the most organized people that I know of. All the things we do for residency would not happen without Lori who is doing an endless task.  She makes the lives of residents, faculty, and all other colleagues better by knowing how to run the residency effectively, efficiently with love and kindness, but behind the scenes: ranging from recruitment to graduation. I think she is the main reason that our pediatric neurology residency program runs smoothly.
