Caregivers
We got some of the best help we’ve received in the four years my daughter has been alive. Sometimes the system can feel like you’re having to scale all these walls and these insurmountable obstacles, and I feel like today has really helped prepare us for that.
We are very grateful for all the sacrifice and hard work that folks would want to put forth the effort to do something like this for a family. If your family has CP, have them involved in this community. This is our first time, and we believe it will be the first of many.
Today was helpful. It gave us information, but it also is hopeful in that, just connecting with the mom that I was sitting at the table with and sharing ideas with her, and her sharing ideas with me on some things that have worked, was really interesting. I would tell a parent who has a child with CP looking for resources and connection, this is definitely someplace that you can come and get that.
Today reminded me there are people out there to help, that I am not alone, and everything does not have to be a fight to get what you need for your loved one.
I have gotten more information regarding my child’s CP than I have since I’ve been in St. Louis. It’s amazing. It’s took me to come here to get the resources that I really need.
I was really inspired and encouraged listening to the panel and hearing them discuss their experiences. I feel like I took away a lot that I’ll use in advocating or just being a better mom to my son. It’s just been a valuable experience and I’ll definitely come back.
My favorite part of the day was connecting with other parents and hearing their stories and ideas of what is working for them. I also enjoyed learning more accessible places to explore.
Kids
We went to go look at some of the plants. We did music, we went on some nature walks. We played on the playground.
I see the grass and the trees and it’s just so beautiful.
I liked the songs. They were playing with me and singing to me.
My favorite part was seeing and making friends.
