Neurofibromatosis Center
Providing exceptional care through groundbreaking research
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a set of complex genetic disorders that can affect almost every organ system, causing a predisposition for tumors to grow on nerves in the brain and throughout the body.
The mission of the Washington University NF Center is to provide exceptional care through groundbreaking research. To accomplish this mission, the center’s expert clinicians and laboratory scientists focus on accelerating the pace of scientific discovery and its application to the care of individuals with NF and related disorders. NF also provides a unique opportunity to understand many other disorders common in the general population, including adult and childhood brain tumors, breast cancer, autism, attention deficit, epilepsy, and learning disabilities.
To learn more about clinical and laboratory research being conducted at the NF Center, visit the Washington University NF Center website. Also discover postdoctoral fellowship and graduate research opportunities by visiting the Gutmann Research Laboratory website.
Patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and their families are cared for by Dr. David H. Gutmann and his multidisciplinary team of specialists in the Washington University NF Clinical Program at St Louis Children’s Hospital.
